The County of Orange closed the application period for the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program on February 28, 2021. If you have already submitted an application for the ERA Program, a regional provider will follow-up with you directly and provide guidance on next steps. If you are in need of assistance and connection to community resources, please contact 2-1-1. The County of Orange will evaluate the possibility of a second open application period based on ERA Program funds availability.

Rental Payment Assistance: During this difficult time, you may find yourself behind on rent. There are limited resources provided by community-based organizations for partial assistance with rent. Most of those available taps out by the first couple of days of a new month. If you need assistance, reach out to these service providers on the 1st of the month to check if there are funds available.

Here is a template that tenants can provide to their landlords about their non-payment of rent due to being impacted by COVID-19. It is recommended that you also include supporting documentation when submitting your notice. Please keep in mind that every landlord’s management company may have their own process to follow as well.

Governor Newsom Signs Statewide COVID-19 Tenant and Landlord Protection Legislation.  Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has signed legislation to protect millions of tenants from eviction and property owners from foreclosure due to the economic impacts of COVID-19. These protections apply to tenants who declare an inability to pay all or part of the rent due to a COVID-related reason.
